Planting and care

Plant yucca in well-drained soil, ideally sandy or gravelly, in full sun. Enrich the growing medium lightly at planting, then ensure excellent drainage to avoid root rot. Space plants 60 to 90 cm apart depending on the desired development.

Watering in the first season should be moderate but regular until it is established. Once rooted, the plant is very drought tolerant and needs little water. In very wet regions, avoid watering that leaves standing water. No extra fertilizer is generally needed. Remove dead leaves at the base and spent flower stalks to keep a nice appearance.
