Planting and care

Plant in well-drained soil enriched with organic matter, in a part-shade spot or one that gets at least a few hours of direct sun. Allow 25 to 30 cm between plants. Water lightly after planting and keep the soil moist (not soggy) for the first two weeks of establishment.

Water regularly during active growth to keep the soil consistently moist. Pinch the stems in spring to encourage denser branching. Remove spent flowers regularly to extend the bloom. In late fall, a light cleanup of dead stems is enough; this perennial doesn't need severe pruning.
