Planting and care

Plant in rich, humus-rich, well-drained soil, in full sun or part shade. Allow 1.5 m of spacing. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and loosen the soil. Work in growing mix or compost. Keep the soil moist without excess at planting.

Water regularly during the first season to establish deep roots. Once established, this shrub tolerates drought well. A 5 to 7 cm layer of mulch helps hold in moisture and moderates temperature swings. Prune lightly after flowering to keep the shape; remove dead or badly placed branches.
