Planting and care

Plant in acidic soil (pH 4.5 to 5.5), well drained and enriched with organic matter (peat or leaf compost). Choose a spot in full sun. Space 1.2 to 1.5 m apart. Avoid windy sites.

Keep the soil moist during the growing season, especially for the first two years. Mulch generously with pine needles or peat to preserve acidity and moisture. Little pruning is needed; cut out dead or weak branches in spring. Fertilize in spring with a fertilizer for acid-loving plants.
