Planting and care

Plant in fall or spring in well-drained soil, slightly acidic to neutral. Choose a spot in full sun for the best development. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and loosen the soil deeply. Water generously at planting to ensure good soil-to-root contact.

During the first season, keep the soil evenly moist without waterlogging. Cut back on watering after establishment, since this elm handles drought well once rooted. No pruning is required; only remove dead or crossing branches. This tree is very vigorous and needs little care once established.
