Planting and care

Plant Thalictrum rochebrunianum in rich soil that is well drained but holds moisture, in part shade. Choose a spot sheltered from strong wind. Space plants 60 to 75 cm apart. Mulch the soil after planting to keep it cool and limit swings in moisture.

Watering should be regular and moderate during the first season to establish the root system. Once settled, meadow rue handles short dry spells well. Cut the foliage back in the fall after frost. No specific pruning is required. Divide the clumps every 4 to 5 years in early spring.
