Planting and care

Plant the 'Sunburst' yew in well-drained soil rich in organic matter, in part shade or under light afternoon shade, which intensifies the yellow of the new shoots. Avoid soils that are too wet in winter. Spacing between plants should be at least 1.5 to 2 m depending on use. Plant in spring or fall.

Watering should be regular the first year, keeping the soil moist without waterlogging. Once established, this yew tolerates relative drought well. No pruning is needed; keep the natural habit, or do a very light trim after spring growth if desired. This yew is very long-lived and gradually improves its habit and vigour over the years.
