Planting and care

Plant in fall or spring in a spot in full sun, in well-drained, slightly limy soil. Allow enough space for air to circulate around the shrub. Dig a hole slightly larger than the root ball, set the plant in place without burying it any deeper, then backfill and firm well.

Water regularly the first year to encourage rooting. After that, its water needs are moderate; watering is only needed during long droughts. Prune lightly after flowering to keep a compact silhouette and remove spent flowers. No regular treatment is needed.
