Planting and care

Plant in full sun or part shade in well-drained, slightly moist soil. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and amend the soil with organic matter. Set the spirea in place without burying the root collar and firm well around the base.

Water regularly while it establishes (the first few months) to keep the soil cool but not soggy. Once established, spirea will tolerate dry spells. Prune lightly after flowering to keep a compact shape; harder pruning in late winter is possible. No disease or pest treatment is generally needed.
