Planting and care

Plant in full sun so the foliage keeps its spectacular dark colour. Choose well-drained soil, slightly acidic to neutral. The planting hole should be as deep as the root ball and twice as wide. Water generously at planting time and for the first few weeks.

The 'Glow Girl' spirea is content with moderate watering once established, except during long droughts. Prune lightly after flowering or in early spring to keep a compact shape. Little care is needed; no particular fertilizer is needed if the soil is reasonably fertile.
