Planting and care

Plant in well-drained soil, in full sun. 'Chameleon' little bluestem tolerates poor, sandy or clay soils. At planting, water moderately to make sure it takes during the first few weeks. Avoid excess moisture, which encourages root rot.

Once established (after the first year), this cultivar is very drought tolerant and needs practically no watering. Cut back to the ground in late winter or early spring before new shoots emerge. No regular treatment or fertilizing is required.
