Planting and care

Plant the 'Lemon Lace' elderberry in full sun to get the best yellow foliage colour. Well-drained soil rich in organic matter is preferable; amend the planting pit with compost or well-composted manure. Planting depth should match that of the root ball.

Water regularly during the first season after planting to make sure the roots establish well. After that, this shrub tolerates moderate summer drought well, but constant soil moisture prolongs the foliage colour. A light pruning after flowering helps keep a compact shape; remove dead or badly placed branches.
