Planting and care

Plant in moist, well-drained soil, in a sunny spot. This willow likes cool soils and even tolerates slightly wet areas or spots near water. Allow suitable space, as the shrub grows quickly. Planting in spring is recommended.

Water regularly during the first year to make sure it takes well. The soil should never dry out completely. After flowering, a light pruning keeps the shape and encourages dense variegated foliage. In a dry climate, frequent watering remains necessary all summer.
