Planting and care

Plant in well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. Choose a sunny spot. Space plants 1.5 to 2 m apart. Water generously at planting and keep the soil cool during the first growing season.

Once established, Rosa rugosa is very drought tolerant and needs little care. Moderate watering during long dry spells is enough. Prune lightly after flowering to keep a balanced shape. Not very susceptible to disease; no regular chemical treatment is needed.
