Planting and care

Plant the rose in fall or spring in an open spot that gets at least 6 hours of direct sun. Amend the soil with compost or well-rotted manure to encourage vigorous rooting. Space at least 1 m apart.

Water regularly after planting to keep the soil moist (not soggy) for the first two seasons. After that, cut back on watering during dormancy. Spread 5 to 8 cm of mulch around the base to hold in moisture and regulate soil temperature. Prune lightly in spring to keep the shape and remove dead wood.
