Planting and care

Plant in fall or spring in a sunny (at least 6 hours of direct sun), airy spot. Amend the planting hole with organic matter and make sure drainage is good. Space plants 1 to 1.5 m apart.

Water regularly during the first season to encourage rooting, then keep the soil evenly moist without saturating it. In dry spells, water deeply once or twice a week. Prune lightly in spring (after the last frosts) and remove dead wood. A balanced fertilizer in spring and early summer supports flowering.
