Planting and care

Plant in full sun in well-drained soil, even poor or sandy. Black locust tolerates compacted and polluted soils well. Avoid spots that are too wet. Space 4 to 5 m apart. Little care is needed once established; watering is only needed during the first year of growth and during long droughts.

The 'Twist Baby' black locust needs little regular pruning. Watch for suckers that may come up at the base, and remove them as needed. No routine disease or pest treatment is required. The tree grows slowly but lastingly.
