Planting and care

Plant in fall or spring in a sunny spot, in deep, well-drained soil. The oak tolerates various soil textures but prefers a slightly acidic to neutral growing medium. Space trees at least 8 to 10 m apart to ensure good air circulation and the best development.

Water regularly the first year to help the roots establish, especially in dry spells. Once settled, this oak is very drought tolerant. Avoid excessive amendments. Structural pruning is limited to removing dead or crossing branches during winter dormancy.
