Planting and care

Plant in deep, well-drained soil, sheltered from drying winds. The white pine prefers full sun. Regular watering during the first year helps the roots establish.

Once established, the white pine will tolerate dry conditions well. Little care is needed. Avoid excessive pruning, which spoils the natural shape; prune only dead or diseased branches. It is susceptible to needle decline in prolonged humidity or poorly drained soil.
