Planting and care

Plant in a sunny spot, in well-drained soil. The Swiss stone pine likes slightly acidic to neutral soils and tolerates exposed spots. Avoid compacted, poorly drained soils, which encourage root rot. Allow enough space for its upright growth.

Water regularly during the first year of establishment, especially during dry summer spells. Once well established, this conifer is very drought tolerant. No pruning is needed; let the natural conical shape develop. Little care is needed afterwards.
