Planting and care

Plant in fall or spring in a sunny, airy spot. Choose well-drained soil, neutral to slightly acidic. Dig a hole slightly wider than the root ball, without burying the root collar. Firm the soil well and form a basin to hold water.

Water regularly for the first two years after planting to make sure the roots establish. Gradually reduce watering once rooted. This spruce tolerates drought well once established. No pruning is needed; it naturally keeps its compact, rounded shape. Beware of excess moisture in winter.
