Planting and care

Set in full sun, in well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Planting in spring or fall encourages rooting. Choose an airy site to minimize the risk of pests.

Regular watering is essential during the first year after planting. Once established, the white spruce tolerates cool to moist soils well and adapts to cold northern conditions. No pruning is needed except to remove dead or diseased branches.
