Planting and care

Plant in fall or spring in well-drained, slightly acidic soil, in a sunny spot. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and set the conifer in place without sinking the root collar. Firm the soil well and water thoroughly.

Water regularly the first season to make sure it establishes. Once rooted, this spruce tolerates drought well. No pruning is needed; it naturally keeps its compact columnar habit. Avoid spots that are too dry or exposed to drying winds.
