Planting and care

Plant in full sun to keep the intense purple foliage colour. The soil should be well drained; adding organic matter at planting improves establishment but isn't critical. Dig a hole as deep and as wide as the root ball and settle the plant firmly in the ground.

Water regularly during the first season to make sure the roots take well. Once established, this shrub tolerates drought well. Little care is needed; a light pruning after flowering keeps the compact shape. No chemical inputs are needed under normal conditions.
