Planting and care

Plant the 'Nanus' ninebark in spring or fall in well-drained soil, in a sunny or part-shade spot. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball, loosen the soil and work in compost. Set the shrub at the same level as in its pot, firm lightly and form a watering basin.

Water generously after planting to establish the root system well, then keep the soil slightly moist for the first two seasons. Once settled, this shrub tolerates drought well. No pruning is required; if desired, prune after flowering to thicken the shape. Adding compost in spring is enough for fertility.
