Planting and care

Plant in a very sunny spot to develop the purple colour of the foliage. Well-drained, moderately fertile soil is ideal. Dig a hole slightly larger than the root ball and set the shrub at the same level as in its container. Firm the soil and water generously.

Water regularly the first year to make sure it takes well, then gradually reduce watering according to rainfall. A light pruning after flowering keeps a compact silhouette. This shrub is very tolerant and needs no particular treatment once established.
