Planting and care

Set the 'Diabolo' ninebark in full sun to deepen the purple colour of the foliage. Rich or slightly moist well-drained soil will suit it. Space at least 1.5 m apart for good airflow and the best growth. Plant preferably in spring or fall.

Water regularly the first season to make sure the roots take well. After that, the plant is very drought tolerant. A light pruning after flowering keeps a compact shape and encourages density. Little care is needed afterwards; the 'Diabolo' ninebark adapts well to difficult conditions.
