Planting and care

Plant mock orange in fall or spring in well-prepared soil enriched with organic matter. Choose a spot in full sun for the best flowering, although it tolerates light part shade. The shrub establishes quickly and doesn't need staking.

For the first two years after planting, water regularly to keep the soil moist without waterlogging. Once established, mock orange tolerates drought well. Prune after flowering to remove tired branches and keep a balanced shape; this species branches well when pruned.
