Planting and care

Plant in well-drained soil rich in organic matter, enriched with compost or rotted manure. The mock orange establishes better with organic matter added at planting. Allow 1 to 1.5 m of spacing for good airflow through the foliage.

Water regularly during the first year of establishment, especially in dry spells. Once well established, this shrub tolerates moderate drought. 5 to 7 cm of mulch around the base helps hold in soil moisture. Do a light pruning after flowering to keep a balanced shape.
