Planting and care

Plant in a wet to very wet spot, in acidic to neutral soil rich in organic matter. This shrub likes places with a shallow water table and tolerates peaty soils. Allow 1 to 1.5 m of spacing if planting in a group.

Watering should keep the soil consistently moist, especially in the first season. Once established, this tolerant shrub needs little attention. Avoid lime amendments. Organic mulch helps keep the soil moist and acidic.
