Planting and care

Plant in fall or spring in a sunny spot, in well-drained, moderately fertile soil. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball, set the tree with the root collar at soil level and backfill with an enriched soil mix. Firm well and form a watering basin.

Water thoroughly at planting and keep the soil cool during the first growing season, especially during long droughts. After that, this tree copes well with normal conditions. A light pruning in late winter keeps a nice shape; remove dead, diseased or crossing branches.
