Planting and care

Plant in fall or spring in a sunny spot. The soil should be rich and well drained; add compost at planting. Dig a hole wider than it is deep and firm the soil well as you backfill. Water generously at planting.

During the first year, water regularly during long droughts. After that, the tree is fairly drought tolerant once established. A light yearly pruning in late winter helps keep a good structure and a better harvest. Apply a preventive treatment against scab if needed.
