Planting and care

Plant the 'Profusion' crabapple in fall or spring in a sunny spot, in rich, well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Keep it at least 4 to 5 m from other trees. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball, enrich the soil with compost and firm well. Water thoroughly at planting.

During the first year, keep the soil evenly moist without standing water. Once established, this tree tolerates moderate drought. Spread 5 to 7 cm of mulch around the trunk. A light shaping prune can be done in late winter; little particular care is needed beyond removing dead or crossing branches.
