Planting and care

Plant in well-drained soil, even sandy or gravelly, because this juniper hates standing moisture. A sunny spot is a must to keep the colour and density of the foliage. No formative pruning is needed; the plant naturally keeps a spreading, compact habit.

Its water needs are very low once established. For the first two seasons, water moderately during long dry spells, then reduce gradually. No fertilizer is needed. Avoid clay or compacted soils, which encourage root rot.
