Planting and care

Plant in full sun in well-drained soil, preferably slightly sandy or rocky. Avoid low areas where water stands. No rich soil is needed; on the contrary, a poor growing medium encourages a compact shape. Set the plant in place with its root ball intact, then water moderately after planting.

During the first season, water regularly (every 7 to 10 days) until the root system is established. Once well rooted, this juniper needs very little water and tolerates drought well. No pruning is required; the compact shape is natural. Avoid excess moisture and shady areas, which encourage fungal diseases.
