Planting and care

Plant in well-drained soil rich in organic matter, in full sun for the best flowering. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball, then backfill with a mix of soil and well-rotted compost. Add a layer of mulch around the base without touching it.

Water regularly at planting and during the first year. Once established, this hydrangea tolerates drought well but flowers better with moderate watering during dry spells. Prune lightly in late winter to keep the structure and encourage abundant flowering.
