Planting and care

Plant in spring or fall in well-drained soil rich in organic matter, in a sunny spot. Allow airy spacing: this cultivar has a nice compact, regular shape. Water regularly during the first year after planting, especially during summer drought.

Once established, the 'Kyushu' panicle hydrangea needs little attention. Prune lightly in late winter or early spring to keep the shape and stimulate flowering. Organic mulch in summer helps keep the roots moist and cool. No particular disease or pest treatment is generally needed.
