Planting and care

Plant in part shade or partial sun, in rich, well-drained, slightly moist soil. Allow at least 1.5 m of space on each side. Work in compost or organic matter at planting. Water generously at planting to establish the root system well.

The soil should stay moist without excess during the first growing season. Prune lightly in spring to keep a compact shape and encourage large flower heads. Add organic mulch to hold in moisture and moderate temperature swings. No disease or pest treatment is generally needed.
