Planting and care

Set in rich, well-drained soil, in part shade or shade. Add compost or organic matter at planting to improve structure and moisture retention. Space plants at least 60 cm apart to let the clump develop fully.

Water regularly after planting to make sure it takes well, especially during the first two seasons. Once established, weekly watering is enough under normal conditions. Spread 5 cm of mulch around the base to keep the soil moist and regulate its temperature. Little care is needed; remove dead leaves in the fall.
