Planting and care

Plant false sunflower in full sun, in well-drained, moderately rich soil. Spacing between plants should be 60 to 90 cm to ensure good air circulation. Put in a stake at planting if the variety grows taller than 1.2 m, especially in windy spots.

Water regularly while it establishes (the first three weeks). Once rooted, the plant tolerates relative drought well. Cut the clump back by a third in spring to encourage a compact shape and abundant flowering. Remove spent flowers to extend the flowering period until the first frosts.
