Planting and care

Plant in full sun in well-drained or slightly moist soil. Space plants 60 to 80 cm apart. Enrich the soil with organic matter at planting. A light mulch will protect the roots in winter.

Watering should be regular for the first few weeks to establish good roots. Once established, this perennial tolerates drought well. Cut the stems back in late fall or early spring. No treatment is generally needed. A balanced fertilizer in spring stimulates flowering.
