Planting and care

Plant the Kentucky coffeetree in full sun, in well-drained, slightly humus-rich soil. It tolerates clay and compacted soils well. Spring or fall planting is recommended. Allow 8 to 10 m of spacing if the tree is to form a full crown.

The Kentucky coffeetree is very hardy and needs little care once established. Regular watering the first year helps it settle in. After that, it will tolerate dry spells well and will only need light formative pruning. The wood is strong and not very susceptible to diseases or pests.
