Planting and care

Set in full sun in well-drained soil, whatever its makeup. Honey locust tolerates compacted, poor soils. At planting, a moderate amount of organic matter helps it establish. Little watering is needed after the first season.

Water regularly during the first year to make sure the roots take well. After that, the plant resists drought very well. No pruning is required; badly placed branches can be removed during dormancy. Very few significant pests or diseases.
