Planting and care

Plant the ginkgo in fall or spring in an open, sunny, airy spot, in well-drained soil. Avoid low, damp areas where water stands. Planting in deep soil and mulching around the tree encourage rooting.

For the first two years, water regularly to keep the soil moist around the root ball. Once established, the ginkgo tolerates drought very well and needs very little care. No pruning is needed, except to remove dead or crossing branches. This tree is exceptionally resistant to pests, diseases and air pollution.
