Planting and care

Plant this shrub in spring or fall in a sunny spot to get the best fall colour. The compact burning bush adapts to different soil types as long as they are well drained; avoid overly wet areas. Space plants at least 1.5 m apart to allow air circulation.

Water regularly for the first two years after planting to build a strong root system. Once established, this shrub tolerates drought well and needs little care. No pruning is required; prune lightly after flowering to keep a compact shape if desired. Avoid excess moisture, which would encourage fungal diseases.
