Planting and care

Plant 'Blue Dune' Canada wild rye in full sun, in light to sandy, well-drained soil, preferably slightly raised. This ornamental grass accepts poor soils and even tolerates alkaline conditions. The recommended spacing is 45 to 60 cm between plants. There's no need to amend the soil.

After planting, water moderately for the first few weeks to establish the root system, then cut back once it is settled. This grass is very drought tolerant and needs practically no care afterwards. Cut the dead foliage back to the ground in spring before new growth. No further pruning or fertilizing is needed.
