Planting and care

Plant in well-drained soil, in full sun. Space plants 45 cm apart. Adding organic matter at planting helps it establish, but this coneflower tolerates poor soils. Water regularly the first season to make sure the roots take well.

Once established, this perennial is very self-sufficient. Water moderately during long droughts. Remove spent flowers to extend the bloom. Cut back to the ground in spring. No treatment is needed under normal conditions.
