Planting and care

Plant foxglove in fall or spring in well-drained soil enriched with organic matter, in part shade. Spacing between plants should be about 45 cm. Avoid spots that are too dry and scorching full sun, which reduce flowering.

Water regularly during the first growing season to help it establish. Once established, the plant handles normal garden conditions well. Remove spent flowers to encourage a second bloom in late summer. Leave a few stems in place so it can self-seed naturally. No specific treatment is needed under normal conditions.
