Planting and care

Plant in fall or spring in well-drained soil rich in organic matter. This shrub tolerates moist soils but dislikes permanent waterlogging. Allow 2 to 2.5 m of spacing for its full development and good air circulation.

Water regularly during the first year of establishment to keep the soil cool but not saturated. Once well rooted, the shrub is fairly drought tolerant. A light pruning in late winter or early spring keeps the shape and encourages denser foliage. The ornamental value of the foliage justifies yearly pruning to keep that bright yellow colour.
