Planting and care

Plant in fall or spring in a spot that gets at least 6 hours of direct sun to keep the golden yellow colour. Choose well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Avoid windy spots, which burn the foliage. At planting, amend the soil with organic matter and water generously.

During the first season, keep the soil evenly moist without waterlogging. Once established (after 1 to 2 years), this conifer tolerates drought well. No pruning is needed; prune lightly in late winter if it needs shortening. Spread mulch around the base to hold in moisture and regulate soil temperature.
